extremely; utterly

極まりない means in the extreme, almost always with a negative quality. Attach it to a na-adjective stem (極まる is a variant). It is formal and strongly critical, expressing that something is intolerable to the highest degree.

  Kare no taido wa shitsurei kiwamarinai.

  His attitude is extremely rude.

• 危険きけん極きわまりない運転うんてんに、肝きもを冷ひやした。
