Trust & transparency
Here's how the site is built, in plain terms. The example sentences come from open, licensed sources like Tatoeba. The grammar and vocabulary explanations are AI-drafted, so I check them by hand before I treat them as done. I passed JLPT N2, so I'm reviewing N5 and N4 myself; N3 and up needs a native speaker or a teacher. Anything not checked yet is marked “under review” right on the page. The interactive features are still in progress, but the core content is free to use now.
What's free, what's paid
I learned Japanese with a lot of free and open tools, and I wanted to put the good parts in one place. The core content (kana, kanji, grammar, vocab and example sentences) is free. The heavier things I'm building on top, like AI conversation and games, cost money to run, so those are paid. I can't promise the whole site will always be free. But anything I mark as verified goes out under an open share-alike licence, so that part stays free and reusable no matter what.
What you can trust today
- The example sentences are real, human-written Japanese from the Tatoeba project (open, licensed).
- The dictionary is JMdict; stroke order is KanjiVG. Established open data.
- Readings, romaji, and stroke order are produced by language-processing software, not guessed by a model.
- The N5 reading and listening passages have been human-reviewed. They're the only content I've checked line by line so far.
- An early quality pass already found and removed 148 bad sentences: wrong translations, bad romaji, or too hard for the level.
What still needs a human eye
The honest part:
- The grammar and vocabulary explanations are AI-drafted, every level from N5 to N1. None are fully human-checked yet, so they're all marked under review.
- The JFT exam conversation practice is AI-drafted too.
- A few reading and listening passages are still drafts.
I'm reviewing N5 and N4 myself and clearing the mark as I go. N3 and up is past what I can verify alone, so that's where a native speaker or a teacher makes the real difference.
How you can help
If you're learning: when something is confusing, or a translation feels off, use the Feedback button at the bottom of any page, or the Report link on a passage. Even "this explanation didn't click" helps.
If you read Japanese natively or teach it: you can check what I can't verify on my own, whether a sentence sounds natural and the nuance is right. The advanced levels, N3–N1 grammar and vocabulary, and the reading passages, are where you'd make the biggest difference.
What you get in return
I can't pay for people's time yet. So here's what I can actually offer:

The open deal
The learning content and the datasets I've compiled are released under CC BY-SA 4.0. In plain terms: anyone can reuse them, including for their own project, as long as they keep them open and credit the sources. That's on purpose. It means your help builds a commons that stays free, not something I can lock away later.
The site's software and the paid features (AI conversation, games) are not open-source. That's the part that keeps the lights on. Full source credits are on the Credits & licenses page.

信頼性と透明性
このサイトがどう作られているか、正直にお伝えします。例文は Tatoeba などのオープンライセンスのデータを使っています。文法・語彙の解説はAIの下書きなので、公開する前に自分で見直しています。私はJLPT N2に合格しているので、N5とN4は自分で確認し、N3以上はネイティブの方や先生に見ていただく必要があります。まだ確認できていない項目には、その場に「確認中」と表示しています。インタラクティブな機能はまだ作っている途中ですが、基本のコンテンツはもう無料で使えます。
無料の部分と有料の部分
私は無料やオープンソースのツールで日本語を学び、その良いところを一つにまとめたいと思いました。基本の学習コンテンツ（かな、漢字、文法、語彙、例文）は無料です。その上に作っているAI会話やゲームなどは運用にお金がかかるので、その部分は有料です。サイト全体がずっと無料だとは約束できませんが、「確認済み」としたものはオープンなシェアアライクのライセンスで公開するので、その部分は何があっても自由に使えます。
いま信頼できるもの
- 例文は Tatoeba の、人が書いた本物の日本語です（オープンライセンス）。
- 辞書は JMdict、筆順は KanjiVG。定評のあるオープンデータです。
- 読み・ローマ字・筆順は、AIの推測ではなく、言語処理のプログラムで生成しています。
- N5 の読解・聴解の文章は、人の目で確認済みです。今のところ、一文ずつ確認できているのはこれだけです。
- 初期の品質チェックで、誤訳・誤ったローマ字・レベルに合わない148文を、すでに削除しました。
まだ人の確認が必要なもの
正直な部分です。
- 文法・語彙の解説は、N5からN1まで、すべての級がAIの下書きです。まだ人の目で確認しきれていないので、すべて「確認中」と表示しています。
- JFT向けの会話練習も、AIの下書きです。
- 一部の読解・聴解の文章は、まだ下書き（draft）の状態です。
N5とN4は自分で確認を進めていて、済んだものから表示を外していきます。N3以上は自分だけでは確認しきれないので、ネイティブの方や先生のお力がいちばん必要です。確認が済むまでは、解説は参考としてご覧ください。
力を貸していただくには
学習中の方へ：わかりにくい所や、訳が不自然だと感じた所があれば、どのページの下にもある「フィードバック」か、文章の「問題を報告」から教えてください。「この説明はしっくり来なかった」だけでも助かります。
日本語が母語・堪能な方、先生の方へ：私だけでは確認しきれない部分、つまり日本語として自然か、ニュアンスが正しいかを見ていただけます。特に上級の N3〜N1の文法や 語彙、 読解文の確認が、いちばん大きな力になります。

オープンな約束
学習コンテンツと、私がまとめたデータは CC BY-SA 4.0 で公開しています。かんたんに言うと、オープンなまま・出典を明記する限り、誰でも（自分のプロジェクトでも）再利用できます。これは意図的です。皆さんの協力が、後から私が囲い込めない「ずっと無料の共有財産」になるようにするためです。
サイトのソフトウェアと有料機能（AI会話・ゲーム）は、オープンソースではありません。ここが運営を支える部分です。出典の詳細は クレジットとライセンスのページにあります。
