even if, even though

Te-form plus も concedes a condition: even if A, still B. Adjectives use くても (高くても) and nouns and na-adjectives use でも. With question words it forms expressions like 何を食べても (no matter what one eats).

  Ame ga futte mo, ikimasu.

  Even if it rains, I will go.

• 高たかくても、買かいたいです。

  Takakute mo, kaitai desu.

  Even if it is expensive, I want to buy it.
