一方で presents two parallel or contrasting aspects happening at once. Attach it to a plain-form verb/adjective, a noun with である, or a na-adjective with な. Unlike 反面, the two sides need not be opposites of the same subject.
Examples
がで、はて。 Yushutsu ga fueru ippou de, yunyuu wa hette iru.
While exports are increasing, imports are decreasing.
はで、も。 Kare wa kibishii ippou de, yasashii men mo aru.
He's strict, but on the other hand he has a kind side too.
