position words: on, under, inside, in front of, behind, next to

Position nouns like ue, shita, naka, mae, ushiro, and tonari follow a noun with no: tsukue no ue means the top of the desk. Add ni to mark the location with arimasu or imasu. The pattern is [noun] no [position] ni.

• 銀行ぎんこうは駅えきの前まえにあります。

  Ginkou wa eki no mae ni arimasu.

  The bank is in front of the station.

• かばんの中なかに財布さいふがあります。

  Kaban no naka ni saifu ga arimasu.

  There is a wallet inside the bag.
