want to do

Attach tai to the masu stem to say you want to do something: ikitai, tabetai. The result conjugates like an i-adjective: tabetakunai, tabetakatta. The object can take either wo or ga.

• 水みずが飲のみたいです。

  Mizu ga nomitai desu.

  I want to drink water.

• 日本にっぽんに行いきたいです。

  Nihon ni ikitai desu.

  I want to go to Japan.
