As technology seeps into daily life, we find ourselves having no choice but to entrust the burden of thinking to machines. We can obtain directions and even memories in an instant, yet that is nothing other than surrendering the very chance to think for ourselves.

However much convenience may increase, if we try to measure even the bonds between people by efficiency, the deepening of dialogue may well be lost. Behind that ease, we are cutting away the very time needed to nurture relationships.

That said, I do not believe we should reject technology itself. What is being asked of us is nothing other than the choice of what to entrust and what we resolve not to let go of. It is precisely the will not to be swept along by convenience that we will be called upon to have from now on.
