special humble verbs

Humble verbs lower the speaker's own actions: する becomes いたす, 行く/来る become 参る, 言う becomes 申す, 食べる/もらう become いただく, and 見る becomes 拝見する. They are used about yourself and your in-group when speaking to outsiders. Combine with ます for polite humble speech.

Examples

• コピーは私わたしがいたします。

  Kopii wa watashi ga itashimasu.

  I will make the copies.

• 明日あしたまた参まいります。

  Ashita mata mairimasu.

  I will come again tomorrow.
