humble: I do (for you)

お plus the verb stem plus する lowers the speaker's own action when it involves or benefits the listener: 持つ becomes お持ちする. Kanji compounds of Chinese origin take ご, as in ご案内する. The even humbler いたす replaces する in formal settings.

• 荷物にもつをお持もちします。

  Nimotsu o omochi shimasu.

  I will carry your luggage.

• 駅えきまでご案内あんないします。

  Eki made go-annai shimasu.

  I will show you the way to the station.
