toward, to (direction)

E (written with the kana he) marks the direction of movement and is largely interchangeable with ni for destinations. It emphasizes the direction of travel rather than the arrival point. It is used only with motion verbs.

Examples

• 学校がっこうへ行いきます。

  Gakkou e ikimasu.

  I go to school.

• どこへ行いきますか。

  Doko e ikimasu ka.

  Where are you going?
