around, about (a point in time)

Goro after a time word means approximately that time: shichiji goro is around seven. It applies only to points in time, not durations; for approximate amounts use gurai. The particle ni after goro is optional.

Examples

• 毎晩まいばん十一じゅういち時じごろ寝ねます。

  Maiban juuichiji goro nemasu.

  I go to bed around eleven every night.

• 七なな時じごろ家いえに帰かえります。

  Shichiji goro ie ni kaerimasu.

  I go home around seven.
