The ta form is the casual past and is made exactly like the te form but with ta instead of te: nonda, tabeta, itta. It is also the base for patterns like ta koto ga aru and ta ato de. Suru becomes shita and kuru becomes kita.

    I talked with a friend yesterday.

  • Nichiyoubi wa ie ni ita.

    I was at home on Sunday.
