because, so (reason)

Kara after a clause gives the reason, and the result follows: atsui desu kara, mado o akemasu. The reason clause can be polite or plain; matching politeness throughout sounds most natural. Kara can also end a sentence when the result is understood.

Examples

• 暑あついですから、窓まどを開あけてください。

  Atsui desu kara, mado o akete kudasai.

  It's hot, so please open the window.

• 時間じかんがありませんから、タクシーで行いきます。

  Jikan ga arimasen kara, takushii de ikimasu.

  I don't have time, so I'll go by taxi.
