possessive and noun-linking particle (of, 's)

No links two nouns so that the first describes the second: possession, origin, type, or topic. A no B means B of A or A's B. Chains of more than one no are common, as in nihongo no sensei no hon.

• これは私わたしの本ほんです。

  Kore wa watashi no hon desu.

  This is my book.

• 日本語にほんごの先生せんせいはやさしいです。

  Nihongo no sensei wa yasashii desu.

  The Japanese teacher is kind.
