intend to, plan to

Dictionary form plus tsumori desu states a firm intention or plan. Use the nai form before tsumori to say you plan not to do something. It is mainly used for your own plans, not other people's.

• 来年らいねん日本にっぽんに行いくつもりです。

  Rainen Nihon ni iku tsumori desu.

  I plan to go to Japan next year.

• 今日きょうは早はやく寝ねるつもりです。

  Kyou wa hayaku neru tsumori desu.

  I intend to go to bed early today.
